In accordance with BS 5975 and HSE legislation, any scaffolding arrangement must be inspected following installation/before first use. at an interval of no more than every 7 days thereafter and following any circumstances liable to jeopardise the safety of the installation e.g. high winds/adverse weather conditions.
At S D Services Group we highly recommend that all scaffold inspections should be carried out by a totally independent company to the contractor that erected the scaffolding initially. There are a number reasons for this recommendation. Firstly, to eliminate any conflicts of interest of any parties involved. Secondly, to ensure diligence is prioritised resulting in any potential actionable issues are not overlooked. Thirdly, to ensure the responsibility of maintaining any existing scaffolding structure is taken on by a company other than the scaffolding contractor or the main contractor, providing peace of mind and ensuring an unbiased service.
We provide an initial scaffold inspection service to our customers as an additional service which can be provided after any scaffolding has been erected in accordance with one of our own designs, or as a completely independent entity, ensuring any scaffolding structure has been reviewed by an Engineer prior to any handover certificate being received by the scaffolding contractor. This provides peace of mind that the structure is fit for purpose and structurally adequate with regards to stability and integrity.
As an alternative to the above Engineers Initial Inspection, we also offer an Advanced Initial Inspection, although very similar, this service is carried out by an Advanced Scaffolding Inspector instead. This will provide an independent review of any scaffolding structure, at any stage after the handover certificate has been issued from the scaffolding contractor. This provides peace of mind that the structure is fit for purpose and has been erected in accordance with either a bespoke design or compliant with TG20:21, also providing reassurance with regards to Health and Safety.
In addition to the initial scaffolding inspection, it is required that any scaffold installation is inspected at an interval of no more than 7 days thereafter. We provide this as service, ensuring an independent overview of any scaffolding structure, providing reassurance that it is at the standard required for its intended purpose.
For all of our scaffold inspection services, S D Services Group provide the accompanying certification, for the Engineers Initial Inspection we issue an official Approval Certificate, for the Advanced Initial Inspection we provide a professional report and for the weekly inspections we provide an inspection log, with scafftags signed after every inspection.
Although primarily based in the South Coast of the UK, we can provide these services to customers nationwide, either travelling to each location ourselves or by recommending or utilising another trusted Advanced Inspector more local, providing us with photographic evidence. Using the data we compile ourselves or receive, all will be included in our own reports we issue.
